About
Southern Right Whale
These whales got their name because they swim slowly and float when they are dead, making them the easiest or the "right" whales to hunt.
There are two species of right whales. One in the Northern Hemisphere and one in the Southern Hemisphere. They have blunt heads with enormous rows of baleen teeth. They feed on plankton, and give birth every three or four years.
