About
Palolo Worm
The Palolo Worm lives in coral reefs. The majority of its life is spent hidden in crevices. To reproduce, the palolo worm grows a special tail section packed with sperm or eggs. One night during the year, these new tail sections of all palolo worms break away and wriggle to the surface of the water. At dawn the sections burst apart, the floating eggs are fertilized, and the worms' life cycle starts again.
