Long-Tailed Tit

About Long-Tailed Tit
Small, rounded bird with long tail and very small black bill. Upper parts black or gray. Primary feathers blackish-brown, inner primaries edged with white. Tail blackish or dark gray. Blackish triangle from shoulders to just above tail; pinkish flanks, white underparts. Some races have pure white heads, others have black or grayish eyestripe.

They build oval-domed nests in pairs from moss bound with spider webs and hair, coated with lichens and lined with feathers, in low, often thorny bushes as far as 70 feet (21m) from the ground. They have 8-12 white eggs, sometimes finely speckled with purplish-red, taken care of by the female while the male brings the food.

The Long-Tailed Tit looks like a fluffy pink ball on a stick - the stick being its long, slender tail. This bird is an active, agile bird that feeds in shrubs and trees. It is sociable, most of the time traveling in large groups, picking up their food on the way. They have the habit of moving from one tree to another in single file across larger gaps.
