Japanese Macaque

About Japanese Macaque
The Janapese Macaques (ma-kack) belong to the group of Old World monkeys. The Old World includes Africa, Asia and Europe. Old World monkeys are different from New World monkeys in a few ways. Old World monkeys do not have prehensile tails (tails that grip), and their nostrils are closer together than New World monkey nostrils.

The Japanese Macaque's fur is unusually thicker than any of the other Old World monkeys. This is because they live in a colder northern climate than any other monkey. These monkeys spend a lot of time in natural hot water springs during the coldest winter months. These macaques feed in the trees and on the ground.
