Elk or Wapiti or Red Deer

About Elk or Wapiti or Red Deer
Elk, also known at Wapiti, or Red Deer in Europe, are one of the most widespread deer in the world. They live in forests, woodlands, meadows and open hillsides. They eat leaves, buds and bark. Male elk are called stags, and they are larger than the females and they have large antlers. During the breeding season, a stag's antlers may reach up to 5 ft. (1.5m) long. Calves are born during the late spring; their fur provides camouflage for their protection.
