Common Earthworm

About Common Earthworm
When earthworms tunnel into the ground, they swallow particles of soil and digest any dead remains that the soil may contain. When the weather is damp, they drag dead leaves underground with them to feed on. This helps to aerate (bring air into) the soil and keep it fertile. Earthworms are most active in the warm, wet weather, when they crawl to the surface to mate. Each earthworm has both male and female reproductive organs.
